Dacia the first Rumanian car manufacturer opens its doors in 1966, by 1968 the factory in Pitesti starts producing automobiles for Renault, the first vehicles produced were the Dacia 1100s, the 1300s and the 1300 S based on the Renault 8 and 12 respectively. Then with the arrival of the Renault 20 the Dacia 2000 is introduced. In 1999 Renault acquires 51% of Dacia and increases its hold on the company until 2003 that owns 99.3% of the same. Renault invests 500 million Euros on the Pitesti plant to modernize it, increase production and quality, as well as working conditions by renovating buildings, upgrading tools and safety standards.
The 2011 Dacia Duster is a low priced SUV available that shows us that an SUV can be inexpensive and environmentally friendly at the same time with CO2 emissions in their dCi engine is lower than 140g/km in the 4x2 version and lower than 150g/km on the 4x4 version. There are two engines to choose from the MPFI petrol 1.6 Lt 4cyl with a maximum output of 77kW/148Nm of torque paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and the diesel 1.5dCi 4cyl with a maximum output of 81kW/240Nm of torque paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. All trims are available in either 4x2 or 4x4. Standard features are the basics, such as driver seatbelt and heater, as you go higher on the trim levels there are more options to choose from, as driver and passenger airbags, fog lights, tilt steering wheel, electric windows for the front and rear, air conditioning, radio with CD reader and MP3 compatible, 16” aluminum alloy wheels and leather seats.
