Three decades after its introduction, with attempts from Mercedes Benz to  eliminate it from the market without any success and now coming back to the UK after 10 years of absence, stronger than ever the Mercedes Benz Gelandewagen (go anywhere car) now known as the G-Class. Its exterior design is all old school, reminiscent of an era far gone, originally design as a military 4x4 vehicle capable of conquering any terrain, it has remained true to its roots. The new 2011 Mercedes Benz G-Class is back and so far it seems is here to stay.

The 2011 Mercedes Benz G-Class is available in two trims the G 350 Blue TEC at an OTR of £81,665.00 is available with a Diesel V6 engine with a maximum output of 155kW and 540Nm with a 7-speed automatic transmission and the G 55 AMG at an OTR of £117,410.00 is equipped with a 5.4Lt V8 Supercharged engine that delivers up to 373kW and 700Nm paired to 5-speed automatic transmission specifically design to efficiently handle the power and torque of this engine. 

The suspension design is outstanding; solid axles ensure a less jerking experience to its passengers when travelling off road. It can overcome gradients of up to 80%, maintains stability on transversal slopes of up to 54% and can cross water ways of up to 0.6 meters in depth.

Don’t be fooled although it has retain its “antiquated” looks on the outside, the interior is up to date with electric seats, ergonomic cockpit design, the use of high quality materials and great workmanship with wood trims and a leather interior. It is equipped with the COMAND multimedia system that incorporates hard disk navigation, a 6 disc DVD changer, telephone, Bluetooth connectivity and the Linguatronic system that allows you to control communications and navigations functions with the use of your own voice. The 2011 G-Class combines the best of the old and the new into an incredible package.

2011 Mercedes Benz GL-Class

The 2011 Mercedes Benz GL-Class  has a powerful  and commanding presence, with its muscular body, the two power domes on the bonnet, wide stance, plenty of ground clearance and long wheelbase. It doesn’t matter what angle you look at the GL-Class from you will see power and elegance.

The GL-Class is a stylish and powerful SUV with a choice of three engines all paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The GL350 Blue Tec diesel with 210hp a Turbocharged Diesel 3.0Lt V6, the GL450 at 335hp is a 4.6Lt V8 diesel engine and the GL550 a 5.5Lt V8 at 382hp all designed to save energy without compromising performance. The tyres are made of a special tread and rubber to reduce rolling resistance. The electrohydraulic power steering assists when needed to avoid any excessive fuel consumption. What do we get out of all this is a very efficient SUV with suv-255 g/km CO2 emissions and a combined fuel economy of 29 mpg.

2011 Mercedes Benz M-Class

For 2011 the Mercedes Benz M-Class received some minor changes to its appearance and some new options have been added to choose from. Exterior changes include a newly designed larger grille and front bumper, headlights clusters with projection beams and the taillights have been given a “smoked” appearance.  Buyers will be pleased with the looks, it is an impressive SUV with its size and wide stance emphasized by its 20-inch wheels and the selection of electronic equipment installed in it will keep them busy studying the owner’s manual.

The M-Class offers a choice of diesel and petrol engines. There are two diesel engines, the ML 300 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and the ML 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY both are of the V6 configuration; fuel economy for both is a combined 32.5 mpg. Only one petrol engine is available for the M-Class, the V8 ML 500 with a maximum output of 285kW and 530Nm of torque and an impressive 0 -62 mph in 5.8 seconds, combined fuel economy is at 21.6 mpg. All engines are paired with the is the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission with seven forward gears and two shifted reverse gears, an electronic control system ensures gears match the driving conditions, this helps in reducing noise levels and engine speeds.

The 2011 Mercedes Benz M-Class is available in three models the SE with a starting OTR of £42,225.00 and ranges up to £56,415.00 is available with the diesel and petrol engines, the Sport OTR starting at £44,775.00 and going up to £58,965.00 is also available with both the diesel and petrol engines and the Grand Edition OTR starts at £49,835 with the ML 300 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and at £51,930 with the ML 350 BlueEFFICIENCY; the Grand Edition is not available with the petrol engine.
