Three decades after its introduction, with attempts from Mercedes Benz to eliminate it from the market without any success and now coming back to the UK after 10 years of absence, stronger than ever the Mercedes Benz Gelandewagen (go anywhere car) now known as the G-Class. Its exterior design is all old school, reminiscent of an era far gone, originally design as a military 4x4 vehicle capable of conquering any terrain, it has remained true to its roots. The new 2011 Mercedes Benz G-Class is back and so far it seems is here to stay.
The 2011 Mercedes Benz G-Class is available in two trims the G 350 Blue TEC at an OTR of £81,665.00 is available with a Diesel V6 engine with a maximum output of 155kW and 540Nm with a 7-speed automatic transmission and the G 55 AMG at an OTR of £117,410.00 is equipped with a 5.4Lt V8 Supercharged engine that delivers up to 373kW and 700Nm paired to 5-speed automatic transmission specifically design to efficiently handle the power and torque of this engine.
The suspension design is outstanding; solid axles ensure a less jerking experience to its passengers when travelling off road. It can overcome gradients of up to 80%, maintains stability on transversal slopes of up to 54% and can cross water ways of up to 0.6 meters in depth.
Don’t be fooled although it has retain its “antiquated” looks on the outside, the interior is up to date with electric seats, ergonomic cockpit design, the use of high quality materials and great workmanship with wood trims and a leather interior. It is equipped with the COMAND multimedia system that incorporates hard disk navigation, a 6 disc DVD changer, telephone, Bluetooth connectivity and the Linguatronic system that allows you to control communications and navigations functions with the use of your own voice.
